Music Interests
I am an avid fan of hardcore, metal, emo music. Bands I enjoy include Zao, Strife, Deftones, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Shai Hulud, Cursive, Converge, and countless others. In fact, I love music so much that I have started two major websites and a record label devoted to the metal and hardcore scenes.
My first website, Wicked Land, was started back in 1996 (on none other than GeoCities), my sophomore year in high school. It was initially devoted to Pantera, my favorite band back then. Little by little, more bands were added onto it; and today, it's home to seven band pages which I built and maintain and a list of others which are affiliates to the site. In addition, it covers news from the heavy metal and nu-metal scene. As of December 2001, the site receives around 10,000 unique visitors per day.
The second website, InStrife, was started in August of 2000. It is devoted to the hardcore scene. The purpose of the website was to be the best news, information, and entertainment source for the hardcore community and it has served very well. As of December 2001, daily unique visitor count is about 2,500.
Most recently, I started my own record label, Polytope Records, in July of 2001. My goal with the label was to search for progressive hardcore bands such as Cave In or spazcore bands such as Converge. My first signing was Alove For Enemies out of Long Island, NY. They are a Christian metalcore band similar to Zao. Their debut EP, ``Truth of Trumpets'', was released in December of 2001.
