Camera Collection

Above is my camera/lens collection as of Nov. 21, 2007. The big thing to the right on the tripod is the Shen Hao large format camera with a Sinar Sinaron S 150mm f/5.6 lens. Missing from the picture is the Canon 30D and the 24-105mm f/4L lens. The rest are listed below. See the Flickr version with notes.

Top Row (left to right)

  • Mamiya C220 medium format w/ 3 lenses: 80mm f/2.8, 55mm f/4.5, 180mm f/4.5
  • Pentax Spotmeter
  • Fuji GA645Zi medium format
  • Yashica 635 medium format
  • APO-Symmar 210mm f/5.6 lens

Bottom Row (left to right)

  • Canon QL17 GIII
  • Holga 120N
  • Canon SD700 IS
  • Yashica Lynx 14E
  • Canon EOS-3 w/ 3 lenses: 50mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.8, 70-200mm f/4L
  • Olympus OM-2 w/ 3 lenses: 28mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4, 75-150mm f/4

The only digital cameras are the Canon SD700 and 30D. Rest are film. The top row is all medium format. Bottom row is all 35mm except for the Holga, which is medium format. The Shen Hao is large format.

Tripods

I have a Gitzo 1257 tripod. Works great. The best feature is of course the carbon fiber. The thing is super light. It's also very steady. It closes to over 2'. I guess that's decent for a 3-sectional tripod. The center column is not removable, which is definitely a downside if you like to shoot from really low grounds.

I also use a Manfrotto 680B monopod for those trips where a tripod is too big. I think this one is a perfect balance between size/weight/functionality/looks/price.

With the tripods, I use the Arca-Swiss B1 ballhead with a variety of Really Right Stuff plates. Pretty expensive but definitely worth it.
